In Celebration of 75th Anniversary, Abbitt makes Donation to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank

Hampton Roads, VA. (August 11, 2021) – When good people come together, great things can be accomplished! The REALTORS®, and staff of Abbitt Realty and Abbitt Management, together with Abbitt Family Foundation, collectively made non-perishable and monetary donations totaling over $10,000 to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank in recognition of Abbitt’s 75th Anniversary.

Donations were collected during the Abbitt Family Day Celebration last month at the Virginia Living Museum, which was attend by over 250 REALTORS®, staff, and family members. As longtime supporters of local community non-profits, such as the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and the Virginia Living Museum, Abbitt’s donation will provide 44,050 meals to members of our community here in Hampton Roads.

“We were honored to bring our team together to celebrate 75 years of success in real estate, thanks to the contributions of so many loyal and hard-working professionals,” said Stephen Abbitt, President. “Abbitt Family Day was not only a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our anniversary, but also pay it forward to an incredible community that continues to support us.”

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank relies on food and fund drives, as well as online fundraising and company matching gift programs throughout the year to help keep their shelves filled with nutritious food items. With the help of foodbankers, volunteers, and donors, the Foodbank is able to partner with over 200 member agencies and programs to distribute food and deliver hope to our neighbors in need.

“Abbitt Realty and the Abbitt family’s support of the Foodbank goes back at least 25 years – the earliest records on our computer system!  The past two Abbitt Family Days have been incredible displays of generosity by the Abbitt team of REALTORS®, family, and friends,” said Karen Joyner, Chief Executive Officer of the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. “Summertime is always a slow time for food donations, so we appreciate the kindness shown by the Abbitt team.  Those who are struggling with food insecurity due to their current economic challenges will benefit significantly from these generous gifts.  Thank you to all who provided these meals!”

Abbitt is already making plans to support the 25th Mayflower Food Drive in November, with each office serving as a donation drop-off point as it has in years past. To learn more about the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and how you can make an impact in the community, visit hrfoodbank.org
