Gloucester Real Estate

Gloucester County was formed in 1651.  Home to 36,000 residents, it is commonly called the “Gateway to Virginia’s Middle Peninsula.”  Few areas can boast of so many colonial and pre-Revolutionary treasures as Gloucester, with its rare collection of historic homes, churches and public buildings.

Located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, Gloucester has over 500 Miles of shoreline created by the five rivers which attracts many boating and fishing enthusiasts. As a commercial fishing hub, it is also home to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and York River Yacht Haven.

The southern tip of the Gloucester County Peninsula extends into the York River and is directly across from Yorktown. Gloucester County’s rural charm is preserved by the hundreds of acres used for farmland, while the Courthouse District contains Historic Main Street which is lined with shops, restaurants, and in the summer season many farmer’s markets. This combination allows Gloucester to provide a desirable mix of rural living and modern day amenities.

Take a tour with one of our Realtors, or perhaps check out the town’s Daffodil Festival on your own, and you will see why it is called the “Land of the Life Worth Living.”
